How long is a session?
1 hour and 15 minutes for private sessions, approximately 1 hour
for class sessions.
How many people can do pilates at one
time?
Three to five at one time, for private sessions. Class sessions
can accomodate four clients.
What should I wear?
Typically, clients find it easier to wear somewhat form-fitting
clothing. Traditionally, pilates are performed in bare feet or socks,
so no special footwear is required.
What will pilates do for me?
It will build stamina, strength, coordination and flexibility. You
will feel taller and leaner, and be substantially stronger in the
middle. The women will look great in a bikini and have beauty pageant
legs.
What will I have to do when I do pilates?
Focus on the specificity of the exercises. This includes breathing
properly, relaxing into the exercises and working the body to its
full contraction and extension. Trainers will guide you through
each exercise.
What if I am not in shape?
Join the crowd. Most of the people who start to take pilates are
seeking fitness - that's why we exist.
Who does pilates?
Ninety percent of the clients are women; 10% are men. Most are between
the ages of 30 and 50, although there are clients as young as 13
and as old as 84. A few clients are professional dancers and dance
students.
Is it enough to do pilates only?
No. You need to manage a healthy diet, reduce stress, and do aerobic
exercise at least 3 times a week, such as brisk walking.
How often should I do pilates to see
results?
Two to three times a week is ideal. Twice a week minimum.
How long does it take to see results?
Usually one will begin to see and feel dramatic results after ten
(10) sessions. Of course, it also depends upon one's own needs,
desires, age and level of fitness at the outset.
